The Look of Love

Torn Apart by Dorothy Roberts

The Look of Love Niya ParksComment

“Once again Dorothy Roberts offers us a bold, visionary critique of the contemporary institutional consequences of colonialism and slavery. Her penetrating analysis of the family policing system and its masquerade as child protective services not only persuades us that reforms alone will forever reinforce the system’s racist and repressive foundations, it also compels us to imagine new modes of care and frameworks for abolitionist futures.”

"In These Times of National Crisis, The People of Israel Fight a Seven-Front War"

"In These Times of National Crisis, The People of Israel Fight a Seven-Front War"

"In these times of national crisis, as the people of Israel fight a seven-front war for our national survival against Iran and its terror proxies, it is heartening to know that far from standing alone, we have the support of the greatest democracy the world has ever known. Character is revealed in times of crisis. In the face of Hamas’s savagery on October 7, the people of Israel connected to the deepest foundations of our national being. As one, we rose to fight our enemies with the heroism, determination, and resilience that characterized our heroes from the days of Joshua and the Maccabees, passed down across time to the warriors of the modern State of Israel.

America stands with Israel because Americans are similarly moved by the legacy of their forefathers. At their base, Israel and America are guided by the same twin insights. Freedom is the most precious gift humanity will ever know. And freedom isn’t free. You have to be willing to fight for it."

"Benjamin Netanyahu's 4th of July message to the American people"

"On this Fourth of July, I want to thank the American people for being true to their birthright, the Spirit of 1776, and wish them a happy and blessed Independence Day.

Through thick and thin, for the past nine months, Israel has deeply appreciated vital American support.

In these times of national crisis, as the people of Israel fight a seven-front war for our national survival against Iran and its terror proxies, it is heartening to know that far from standing alone, we have the support of the greatest democracy the world has ever known.

You have to be willing to fight for it.

Israelis saw on October 7 what it would mean if we ever lost our freedom. We understood this is not a war of choice but a war for survival.

Americans saw the atrocities of October 7, and they understood the stakes as well, not just for Israel but for the free world as a whole. Israel, a peace-loving democracy and America’s closest ally in the Middle East, was invaded by an army of jihadists bent on annihilation and subjugation. The same forces attacked America on September 11. Standing with Israel came naturally and immediately for Americans. They understood that for this march of murder and tyranny to end, Israel must win this war.

Tyrannical ayatollahs that rule Iran stand at the apex of the axis of jihad, murder, and war. They and their henchmen view Israel and the United States as their mortal enemies.

The outcome of this war is not in question. Israel will remain true to our ancient and modern legacy. We will win this war. We are strengthened with the sure knowledge that as we move forward toward victory we will be supported by our great friend, the United States of America.

The writer is the prime minister of the State of Israel."

"Survivors of Tulsa Race Massacre call on Biden & FBI To Open Investigation Into 1921 Attack"

"Two survivors of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre are calling on President Joe Biden to open an investigation into the deadly attack following the Oklahoma Supreme Court decision last month to dismiss the survivors’ lawsuit that sought reparations.

Lessie Benningfield Randle, 109, and Viola Ford Fletcher, 110, made a plea to the Biden administration on Tuesday to invoke the Emmett Till Unsolved Civil Rights Crime Act of 2007, which allows for cold cases of violent crimes against Black people committed before 1970 to be reopened and investigated."

🚨RED ALERT!!🚨"Hillary Clinton STOLE our billion-dollar settlement?"

In short, we were extensively liabled, Hillary & Arc Initiatives DC apparently recognized the value of our case, gave us attorneys, we won the case, then they ALL walked away with our settlement a year ago. We constantly plead for help, yet our exhortations are ignored because what has happened is unspeakable and we are BLACK.

It’s Imperative That The Health And Medical Community Explore Options To Repair And Rectify The Adverse Experiences of Racism Within Healthcare And Medicine

The Look of Love Niya ParksComment

Because racism is still an ongoing and pervasive issue in health and medicine, it’s imperative that the health and medical community explore options to repair and rectify the adverse experiences of the communities they serve.

"Racism is a strong determinant of health and longevity of life, so talking about it, feeling affirmed and perhaps even receiving support will go a long way.”

"Nike Unveils A'ja Wilson's New Signature Logo" ❤️✨

"Las Vegas Aces superstar A'ja Wilson now has her own signature logo.

Nike, which announced in May that Wilson will have her own signature shoe, released the two-time WNBA MVP's official logo on Saturday. The logo is designed as an "A" shaped to look like a star.

The logo is "inspired by her distinctive style, incredible performance and unapologetic realness," Nike wrote in a statement. "Coincidentally, she always drew a star in the 'A' of her signature, which is accentuated in her logo in an energetic and playful way. The base shape of the logo incorporates strong, bold lines, symbolizing the strength and support she brings to her team."

"Angel Reese put together the best performance of her young WNBA career on Sunday afternoon.

In a matchup against Caitlin Clark and the rival Indiana Fever, Reese recorded a career-high 25 points to go along with 16 rebounds — notching yet another double-double.

With this stunning performance, Reese became the first WNBA rookie to score at least 25 points and rip down at least 15 rebounds in a single game since Rookie of the Year A'ja Wilson in 2018."

Adultification Bias in American Society

The Look of Love Niya ParksComment

"This incident underscores the 'adultification bias' that young Black girls like Bobbi face in American society... It’s a very pervasive form of bias that does not know boundaries... In emergency rooms, we’re seeing it affect the treatment and diagnosis of Black girls. In schools, we’re seeing it come up in the form of harsher and more frequent discipline against Black girls... While the police handled the situation with Bobbi extremely well, it is also noted of the times where they didn’t – like last year when a Rochester police officer handcuffed a 9-year-old Black girl, put her in the back of a police car, and remarked 'you’re acting like a child' before pepper-spraying her as she cried out for her father." - Rebecca Epstein, Georgetown Law Center on Poverty and Inequality

With all of the progress that we have made as a society and as human beings, it's truly unfortunate that Black children still aren't held in the same esteem and compassion as all the other children of our nation and the world. It's unfortunate that they aren't looked out for equally and that their tears don't matter. From child welfare to law enforcement, to healthcare, education, and beyond, the experiences of Black children are discounted, discarded and of no concern to far too many.
