"Nike Unveils A'ja Wilson's New Signature Logo" ❤️✨

The Look of Love Niya ParksComment

"Las Vegas Aces superstar A'ja Wilson now has her own signature logo.

Nike, which announced in May that Wilson will have her own signature shoe, released the two-time WNBA MVP's official logo on Saturday. The logo is designed as an "A" shaped to look like a star.

The logo is "inspired by her distinctive style, incredible performance and unapologetic realness," Nike wrote in a statement. "Coincidentally, she always drew a star in the 'A' of her signature, which is accentuated in her logo in an energetic and playful way. The base shape of the logo incorporates strong, bold lines, symbolizing the strength and support she brings to her team."

"Angel Reese Makes WNBA History!" ❤️✨

The Look of Love Niya ParksComment

"Angel Reese put together the best performance of her young WNBA career on Sunday afternoon.

In a matchup against Caitlin Clark and the rival Indiana Fever, Reese recorded a career-high 25 points to go along with 16 rebounds — notching yet another double-double.

With this stunning performance, Reese became the first WNBA rookie to score at least 25 points and rip down at least 15 rebounds in a single game since Rookie of the Year A'ja Wilson in 2018."

Adultification Bias in American Society

The Look of Love Niya ParksComment

"This incident underscores the 'adultification bias' that young Black girls like Bobbi face in American society... It’s a very pervasive form of bias that does not know boundaries... In emergency rooms, we’re seeing it affect the treatment and diagnosis of Black girls. In schools, we’re seeing it come up in the form of harsher and more frequent discipline against Black girls... While the police handled the situation with Bobbi extremely well, it is also noted of the times where they didn’t – like last year when a Rochester police officer handcuffed a 9-year-old Black girl, put her in the back of a police car, and remarked 'you’re acting like a child' before pepper-spraying her as she cried out for her father." - Rebecca Epstein, Georgetown Law Center on Poverty and Inequality

With all of the progress that we have made as a society and as human beings, it's truly unfortunate that Black children still aren't held in the same esteem and compassion as all the other children of our nation and the world. It's unfortunate that they aren't looked out for equally and that their tears don't matter. From child welfare to law enforcement, to healthcare, education, and beyond, the experiences of Black children are discounted, discarded and of no concern to far too many.

Love & Celebrate Your Beautiful Jewish Curls ❤️💕

#ICYMI, be sure to check out Dana Sussman's recent article on how she "Finally Learned to Love My Jewish Curls."

"Inspired by my daughter, 13 years after I chopped off my own curls, I’m growing them out again. I’m extremely grateful to the natural hair movement for celebrating curly hair textures, encouraging me to celebrate my curly texture; and for inspiring me to model curl-positivity for my toddler, to learn to embrace one’s own authentic and unique beauty, and to reject the Eurocentric restrictive norms of the past. And these are the lessons I hope we can all instill in our children, one ringlet at a time." - D. Sussman, https://bit.ly/LoveMyJewishCurls

History of June 19th

The Look of Love Niya ParksComment

"Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. Note that this was two and a half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation – which had become official January 1, 1863. The Emancipation Proclamation had little impact on the Texans due to the minimal number of Union troops to enforce the new Executive Order. However, with the surrender of General Lee in April of 1865, and the arrival of General Granger’s regiment, the forces were finally strong enough to influence and overcome the resistance.

Later attempts to explain this two and a half year delay in the receipt of this important news have yielded several versions that have been handed down through the years. Often told is the story of a messenger who was murdered on his way to Texas with the news of freedom. Another is that the news was deliberately withheld by the enslavers to maintain the labor force on the plantations. And still another is that federal troops actually waited for the slave owners to reap the benefits of one last cotton harvest before going to Texas to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation. All of which, or none of these versions could be true. Certainly, for some, President Lincoln’s authority over the rebellious states was in question. Whatever the reasons, conditions in Texas remained status quo well beyond what was statutory."

Black Lives Still Don't Matter

"Black Lives Still Don't Matter"

Several days ago, I tried to share this article about the terrible atrocities that these young victims endured at the hands of their captors. But being wounded by the same powerful people who overlooked their pain, I failed at illustrating their suffering.

The Hillary Clintons of the world, who also stole my settlement, are also responsible for overlooking the abuses that these young women and girls have endured.

This too is another unfortunate illustration of the various ways that Black lives do not count.

Superstar Angel Reese Is Back In Action 🙌🏾💕✨

The Look of Love Niya ParksComment

"Angel Reese and her Chicago Sky teammates will look to get back on the winning track as they travel to the nation's capital on Thursday to face the winless Washington Mystics.

The Sky (3-5) have lost back-to-back games − falling to Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever last Saturday in a game marred by a hard foul on Clark by Chicago's Chennedy Carter, and then losing to the New York Liberty on Tuesday as Reese was ejected after getting hit with two quick technical fouls.

The rookie forward from LSU seems to have embraced her role in bringing more attention to the WNBA, recently telling USA TODAY Sports' Nancy Armour: 'Obviously, everybody wants this (increased spotlight) and has wanted this for a long time, especially my teammates who’ve been in this league for a little while now ... We've all been given these opportunities and we don't take them for granted. So I'm just happy to be a part of it and continue to help grow the game as much as I can.'"

THE LAND SHOULD NOT BE DIVIDED!

Psalm 22:6: "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May they prosper who love you.'"

Genesis 15:18-21: "On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your offspring I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates, the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites and the Jebusites.”

Joel 3:1-2: "For behold, in those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. And I will enter into judgment with them there, on behalf of my people and my heritage Israel, because they have scattered them among the nations and have divided up my land,"Zachariah 12:4-5: "In that day,’ says the Lord, ‘I will strike every horse with confusion, and its rider with madness; I will open My eyes on the house of Judah, and will strike every horse of the nations with blindness. And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, ‘The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my strength in the Lord of hosts, their God."

Genesis 12:3: “I will bless those who bless you (Israel), and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."
