On Ending School Pushout!

The Look of Love Niya ParksComment

"If we commit to this notion of education as Freedom Work, we can shift educational conditions, so that no girl, even the most vulnerable among us, can get pushed out of school. And that's a win for all of us....

Dr. King’s message of love as a core demand of justice extends to our ongoing work to create learning conditions for young people that provide them with safe spaces to become skilled critical thinkers and to develop character traits that best serve them and our families, communities, and institutions. In this video, I talk about how schools can interrupt (rather than facilitate) pathways to criminalization and narratives of exclusion for Black girls by becoming locations for healing."

Thank you to our community for coming together for our #GiveHealthy Food Drive to help support the San Bernardino and Riverside communities! 🍎 Together we raised 218 pounds of fresh fruit, vegetables, and other healthy food to the growing number of children and families in need during the COVID-19 crisis.

We encourage you to support the local food pantry in your area. @FeedingAmerica can help find a Food Pantry near you here: https://www.feedingamerica.org/find-your-local-foodbank

We Celebrate Victoria Rowell! #NationalFosterCareMonth

On this day in #NationalFosterCareMonth we celebrate Victoria Rowell, an award-winning actress, writer, producer and dancer, best known for her work on Diagnosis: Murder, The Young and The Restless, and The Rich and The Ruthless. As shared during her NPR interview, “Victoria Rowell spent her early life going from home to home in the foster care system… In her book, The Women Who Raised Me, Rowell talks about spending an entire childhood as a Ward of the State, never formally adopted into a family. This childhood reality is the driving force behind her nearly 20 years of advocacy work on behalf of children in foster care.” #NationalFosterCareMonth
